INTERACTIVE INTERVIEW

Chat with Rodi Glass

Rodi Glass is a child survivor of the Holocaust. When Rodi was just 4 years old, Germany invaded her hometown of Amsterdam. In September 1942, Rodi and her parents were put on a train to Westerbork transit camp and eventually released. They would be deported and released from Westerbork two more times. Eventually, Rodi’s mother’s youngest sister had a valid English passport and got permission for herself and the family to go to an internment camp in Vittel, France. They remained in Vittel until it was liberated in September 1944.

In April 1951, Rodi, her parents, and her grandparents arrived in New York before moving to Chicago. Today Rodi is an active member of the Speakers’ Bureau at Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center and Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach. In 2023, Rodi returned to Amsterdam to record her story for the VR film, Walk to Westerbork, produced by Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center and East City Films.
